Monday, October 31, 2005 Interesting, somehow I thought I would be a little more scientific. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You fit in with: Humanism Your ideals mostly resemble that of a Humanist. Although you do not have a lot of faith, you are devoted to making this world better, in the short time that you have to live. Humanists do not generally believe in an afterlife, and therefore, are committed to making the world a better place for themselves and future generations. 0% scientific. 100% reason-oriented. ![]() Take this quiz at QuizGalaxy.com written by angela at 3:49 PM [+] | Friday, October 28, 2005 Maybe someone out there can help me out here.... I am officially done everything except the final discussion at the end. I am confident I will be completely done by the end of next week. Man, this feels great. Now it is time to get serious about looking for a job. I think I have put that off far to long already. Anyone got any leads??? In other news, Marc and I are a completely new couple. You wouldn't even recognize us. Marc has shaved his head as a fundraiser for Breast Cancer and I have chopped off all my hair to donate it to Locks of Love. I will have to post a picture soon, but Marc is out of town until tomorrow. Maybe I will get on that this weekend. written by angela at 9:47 PM [+] | Monday, October 17, 2005 I learnt a lot about myself this morning in the denstist chair. Namely, I am a wuss and I have a happy place. Yes... Through out two and a half hours of near torture (I do not envy the dentist) I found a happy place. It is so good, I am surprised I have never found it before. For me, it was so obvious and now I will keep it tucked away for future use. I have heard of people losing their jobs because of what they have posted. There are things an employer can not ask you in an interview or while you are working for them. Yet, all they have to do is search Google to find all the answers about you that they are not allowed to know. Personally, I don't often post about politics or religion, but if you go through the archives you will find the odd post where I openly express my opinions. You only have to go as far as Grrrl Meets World to see a personal website almost dedicated to religious and political views. All available for anyone, including a potential future or current employer to read. What about Jayson's website, written by a pastor. What if a future congregation comes across his writings and disagrees with what he says. Major problems could potentially arise. Is the website worth these potential problems? Could someone read my website, perhaps a future photography client or employer and question my professionalism? These are all things I have been thinking about lately, especially after it was brought up by a friend who does not have a blog themselves. I justify the blog to myself, saying that I never post anything that I don't want someone to read. I am a very open person. Even though it is illegal for an employer to ask certain thing about me, it they did I probably would answer truthfully. It is just how I am, my views are a part of me and I am not shy or embarrasses of them. It is what I believe and I enjoy the feedback I get from a public website. So, there are definite advantages and benefits awarded through a public website, but are they worth the risk and potential hazards? written by angela at 12:17 PM [+] | Thursday, October 13, 2005
![]() written by angela at 11:08 PM [+] | Wednesday, October 12, 2005 Thanksgiving was a success...A lot of work, but a success. Now I can't wait until my next turkey, assuming I am not the one cooking it. I enjoy cooking and entertaining, but it is also nice to just be a guest. Out turkey left overs are almost gone but there is still lots of ham left. Does anyone have a good recipe for soup made from a ham bone. I have a delicious ham bone in the freezer that I am not sure what to do with. I have made many soups, but never from ham. written by angela at 2:41 PM [+] | Thursday, October 06, 2005
![]() Last night we had our own private concert by Wide Mouth Mason. It was awesome. We went to a concert at the Odeon last night. They were playing for a conference and were not allowed to advertise. Unfortunately for them, there were only about a hundred people there, most of whom probably didn't really know who Wide Mouth Mason was. We got a special invite because the company Marc works for was a sponsor of the event. It was so cool. We went right up to the front and sat on a runway coming off the stage. No one was between us and the band. I believe this was a once in a life time opportunity to see a band like that. It was great, they are such a talented band. I have seen them play before, but not like this. I am definitely more of a fan now then I was before. Lucky for me, my husband already knew what I didn't know, so, through him, I already have access to all the Wide Mouth Mason CD's I could want. written by angela at 11:17 AM [+] | You may have noticed that I have removed the black and white engagement photo that I had posted a couple of days ago. I was talking to the soon to be husband and wife when I found out that the groom has a thing against photos of him being displayed anywhere public. Well...I am afraid this has really upset me. I was considering making a professional website in order to get my name out there and perhaps do more weddings. But now, out of the two weddings I will have done I can only use pictures from one of them for the portfolio. This is not very helpful. Basically I have to give up my rights to all the photos I take that include the groom. When I decided to do these two weddings, I did it for experience, for a portfolio and for a favour for my friends. But, up until this point I have expected the favour back from them that I can use their pictures as my portfolio. Well, I guess my assumption is wrong this time. Now I know why it costs so much to buy the rights for photos taken by a professional. I feel like this may even change the way I take photos at this wedding and I regret that. For my own purposes, I will want more pictures with just the bride or of other details around the ceremony. I want to do a good job for the couple, but for myself pictures of the groom are useless. I do these things for myself as well as for the subjects, or at least I have until now. Maybe as a professional you have to change the reason you take pictures. I don't know if I like that idea but it is probably the facts of life. I guess that is why they can charge so much money. written by angela at 12:17 AM [+] | THESIS UPDATE: My page count is now 81!! written by angela at 12:15 AM [+] | Tuesday, October 04, 2005 I just got back from tonight's meeting with the Saskatoon Camera Club. It was the results meeting for the first competition, or clinic as they are called. My pictures did quite well and I was very impressed at the quality of entries. I received one honourable mention and the other three images I entered all were very close to an honourable mention. I feel I benefited a lot from entering this clinic and I am grateful for the feedback on my photos. Tag five other people to do the same. Here goes nothing. It was nice, but all that baby talk was....Well...I don't know what it was. What an interesting sentence to dredge up from the past. ![]() Tonight we went to the drive in theater and saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Dukes of Hazzard, the latter of which isn't really worth mentioning in comparison to the former. I was so happy with the Chocolate Factory. In fact, I wouldn't mind owning that one in the near future and I think I probably should read the book. It was fun and adventurous, with some wonderful lessons about character. However, what I enjoyed the most was its play on reality and possibilities. Of course, this is always an interesting topic for me and I just love books or movies that play with fantasy, or what I like to call it... Limitless reality. Hmmm... Think about that one for a while. written by angela at 12:46 AM [+] | |
