"A source of wonderment and inspiration to the peoples of China and Japan for centuries, the Mandarin, has been exalted to a great extent. In the orient it is a legendary symbol of interpersonal respect, kindness, and marital fidelity."

Very interesting, but why was this asian beauty in Switzerland?

Isn't that amusing?

Home sweet home! It is nice to be home again. The trip was great and as expected I took a lot of pictures. I won't be posting them right away as I have returned home to a lot of work that needs to get done. For now these two pictures here will have to do.

Twelve hours from now I will be at the Saskatoon airport checking in. The count down is on. I probably won't be posting until I get back so I wish y'all a good week. I am sure I will have plenty of photos to post when I get back, although the weather forecast for both Switzerland and France predicts a lot of rain. Hopefully it will clear up a little bit. Pictures of the Eiffel tower in the rain my be interesting.

Today was a good day for a little retail therapy. I went downtown to pick up my plane tickets from the travel agent and decided to make a little detour into the mall. Only three more days and I will be with Marc in Switzerland. Things are pretty lonesome here alone, but all I have to do is think ahead a couple of days and I get excited. I should probably start doing some laundry so I have some clean cloths to pack.

A few weeks ago, someone told me he couldn't start a blog, because he had nothing to say. Well, I just proved you can make a post with nothing to say.

Feminism.... What is it? I am watching a documentary called I Was a Teenage Feminist. It is very interesting....Very very interesting. Becky, I think you would like this one. So far there have been many definitions of feminism presented. Some tell of a horribly narrow minded stereotype and some tell of a group of people that no breathing woman should consider not identifying with.

I like thinking of feminism as the power to have choices. It is not about the choice you make, but the power and opportunity to have the knowledge and ability to make your choices. The documentary mentions the amnesia of young women today and the taking for granted of feminism. One women suggests; If we do not hold on to this power, it will slip away. We can not take our rights for granted or they may easily be taken away from us. Do you really think this is possible?

A popular evangelist described feminism in a letter as causing women to "leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft and become lesbian" among other things. Really....My jaw has been dropped open for most of this documentary. Could someone really say things like this. It is true and is what has happened in the past and perhaps is still happening today. Thankfully, not in my group of friends and family (at least, if it is, I am unaware). There was an equally appalling article in Esquire, Marc's favorite magazine, about feminism and how feminists are merely inadequate, abnormal women.

Books published on menstruation can be found in the disease section of some bookstores...Whaaa???

"Perhaps everyone is born feminist and then they are talked out of it..."Perhaps...

Becky, this one is for you:
"How do you change the world? First of all, you have to stop watching other people do it and dive in yourself."

I think I have decided, inspired both by Becky and this film, to not only boycott Molson products, but also to write them a letter telling them why.

Guess what.... I am a Feminist .... and my husband loves me for it!

I am trying to make up a label for Marc's homemade beer. Does anyone have any ideas, any themes, or names? The beer is a dark ale and judging from the smell, I think it will actaully be good.

So, that is it. Marc has left already and should be arriving in Zurich, Switzerland some time in the middle of the night tonight. I miss him already and I can't wait to see him next week when I follow him there. What a crazy couple of days it has been. You never could've told me Wednesday night that in 10 days I would be on a plane to Zurich and that Marc was to leave in just over 24 hours. Wow, how things can happen fast when you are open to possibilities. A woman scheduled to go on this trip quit on Thursday so to replace her they sent Marc. Me going up is just for a little mini holiday. How could I not take advantage of the opportunity. Although my flight is not free, Marc's is so you see how I had to seize the chance. I know this isn't really in our budget, but I often say debt to traveling is worth it. Have any of you been to Switzerland or France? Any suggestions on things to see?

Boy, oh boy, do I ever have some great news. How exciting. Should I reveal the news, or let you figure it out? I will have to think about it. I am so excited. (NO, I am not pregnant)
