![]() What an amazing performance. I was almost crying at the end... Almost. I am very glad I was able to read the book recently, it really made me appreciate the show much more. I was very impressed and I know Becky had a wonderful time too. It was worth the ticket price to see her face after and during the show. Plus, we were two hot chicks all done up pretty tonight. Any excuse for a night out. Marc is at his Stag right now. I hope he isn't getting into too much trouble. I am sure he is having a blast. I am resisting the urge to call him. written by angela at 10:22 PM [+] | Thursday, November 25, 2004 Liar! Another quality H*R cartoon written by Marc at 8:18 AM [+] | Wednesday, November 24, 2004

![]() This is what I have been up to for the last few weeks in my digital imaging class. Colourizing an old black and white photograph. I think it has turned out quite well, but I have spent so much time on this photo that I hope never to see it again. written by angela at 8:20 PM [+] |
So, yesterday, I received a package that I've been anxiously awaiting for months. A few months ago, I read on Hawksley Workman's website that he was working on a live performance DVD. Hawksley's live performances were what clinched me as a fan to him. I saw Hawksley first in 2001, and have seen him a few other times since.I try to introduce people to Hawksley whenever I can, and most of them aren't as appreciative of his music as I am, but I really believe that if they saw him live, they would really appreciate his music a lot more. In conclusion, if you have a chance to see this DVD, take the opportunity. written by Marc at 7:06 PM [+] | Monday, November 22, 2004 so busy ... i just want to sleep ... written by angela at 7:56 PM [+] | Thursday, November 18, 2004

![]() Hawk-Owl: The Hawk-Owl is a fast-flying, diurnal bird. It may often be seen on an exposed perch at the edge of a field or clearing, on the lookout for rodents and small birds. ![]() Last night I took the bus up to the farm. I was bored on the bus so I spent some time fooling around with my camera, hence the blue and red photo. I took that picture of different coloured lights with a very slow shutter speed. When I finally made it to Choiceland it was quite late. The Northern Lights were more then beautiful. I am afraid the photos I took do little to give them justice. I had no tripod with me and I was using shutter speeds as slow as 10 seconds. The lights were amazing. I think most people have never in their lives seen northern lights like I saw last night. I have only seen them that good a small handful of times. In fact, I shouldn't even call them northern lights. They were in all directions, east, west, south and north. I was surrounded by them, all I had to do was look up. The lights were green, blue and pink. Beautiful vibrant colours that were not accurately captured with my camera. All I can do is hope they come back Saturday night when Marc will be here with my tripod. To see some more photos of the northern lights clich here. written by angela at 2:22 PM [+] | Thursday, November 11, 2004

Siegfried Sassoon Out there, we've walked quite friendly up to Death,- Sat down and eaten with him, cool and bland,- Pardoned his spilling mess-tins in our hand. We've sniffed the green thick odour of his breath,- Our eyes wept, but our courage didn't writhe. He's spat at us with bullets and he's coughed Shrapnel. We chorussed when he sang aloft, We whistled while he shaved us with his scythe. Oh, Death was never enemy of ours! We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum. ![]() Today Becky and I went to the Remembrance day ceremony on Campus. Here are some photos I took during the ceremony. written by angela at 2:04 PM [+] | Tuesday, November 09, 2004 Last night I went out for coffee and dessert with my best friend from high school. It was so much fun. We kinda lost touch after high school but in the last couple of years we have been hanging out on a semi regular basis. About once every month or two we get together. Usually it is with her husband and I always bring a date. This time was different. We left the men at home and went out just us two girls. It was so much fun, way more fun then with the boys. It was exactly what we needed and now we are inspired to plan a get together with a bunch of our old friends from that time in our lives when we were 16 or so years old. Maybe close to Christmas when people that are out of town come back to visit family. It may be hard to get a hold of many people, but I hope it works out. Doesn't it sound like so much fun. Everyone can bring their husbands and wives (because I will have a husband of my own to show off at Christmas) and there will be so much to catch up on. This was about seven years ago that we all used to hang out. Wow, seven years sounds like so long ago yet it doesn't feel that ancient. How fast time flies when you are having fun. written by angela at 1:42 PM [+] | Sunday, November 07, 2004
![]() This is me clinging to Marc when he walked into my shower/stagette. "Take me away from this nonsense." The lingerie shower was a great idea and it makes the shower much more interesting then the traditional kitchen theme. After all, I will probably get lots of kitchen stuff for the wedding. Even my grammas came and I think they had a good time. If they were at all uncomfortable, they did a good job hiding it. I am very glad everyone came and it turned out so well. I got a lot of pajamas, but I also got a lot of the fun stuff too. Marc will appreciate it I'm sure. Thanks to everyone for coming and making it a success, and especially thanks to Becky for being a wonderful hostess and to the people who traveled to come celebrate. written by angela at 1:11 PM [+] | Friday, November 05, 2004 Last night I had a dream. It was a good dream and in it I had a baby. This is not the first time I dreamt that I had a baby and again, the baby was a boy. The baby was perfect, just like in my other dream. This time, there was one thing about the baby that bothered me. I didn't take it too seriously, but it did bother me. During one part of the dream, every time I picked up my baby, he cried. Every time Marc picked him up, he laughed and giggled. Then I told the baby I loved him and he told me he loved me back and stopped crying. I know babies don't talk, but this was a dream okay. Interesting. written by angela at 11:47 AM [+] |
Here's a copy of a letter that Hawksley Workman sent all of his fans. I'm not good at interpreting metaphors and such, so if somebody would be so kind as to tell me if he means anything more from the text, I'd appreciate it. November. uncertainty in the air. i don't know if we realize the strangeness of the times we are living in. a funny cluster of people weakened by technology and misguided notions of fortune. is there a pure heart? is there a god with ears to hear prayer? i have been walking again. parked car. funny how the modern symphonies of our lives have become triple 'F' forte with burning, prestissimo tempos... we don't sound like music anymore. the pace of my steps and my heart seem to have reawakened my thirst. my desire and my connection to something larger than i am. funny little chaos. funny little strands. funny little bits of disease. redeemed by our art, by our kindness, and our occasional uncharacteristic moments of selflessness. alas, music. a glorious vibration. as we are too funny little vibrations in the shape of these familiar human vessels. connectivity. vibrations alike to themselves, with music making us one. water of one's sweat... sweat of one's piss... life giving all the while. importance is relative... what is right and wrong seems less so. i get scared for culture. our lovely sovereign voice. it is so much easier to hide from our truths. they are difficult and demanding. food, music, language, art, are all traditions of function and happiness. with these things we are at want for little more. so many reasons for fear these days... why no reasons for faith?? Not the church going faith... but the faith that is intrinsic in a culture of giving and confidence. in a culture of strength there is no need to fain humility... faith alone is humbling. november. uncertainty in the air. i don't know if we realize the strangeness of the times we are living in. peace before the snow... written by Marc at 8:22 AM [+] | Thursday, November 04, 2004
![]() Here is another one I made in Photoshop from one scanned item. I don't think anyone will be able to see what the original item was so I will just tell you. I scanned an Apple cut through the center and used it to make the background. I like this one, it gives me a feeling of cream swirls, vanilla, coffee. Mmmm, it is comforting. written by angela at 8:56 PM [+] | Wednesday, November 03, 2004
